What We Treat

Instead of treating symptoms and those terrible–sounding dis–ease entities (migraines, sinusitis, an ulcer, cancer, hypertension, arthritis, sciatica, carpal tunnel), we treat people — people who often present with significant health problems.

We treat people who want to reclaim their health, their vitality, their ability to live free of headaches, pain, and dis–ease–in drug–free, natural ways.

Using our natural health approach, we divide the body into three sectons — a top, a middle, and a bottom. There are particular issues that relate to each of these three portions of the body.

The Body's Top:
Headaches, Sinus, Neck, Arm & Hand Problems

Problems related to the upper most portion of our human body are a very important part of our focus. Here we pay special attention to the skeletal imbalances and nerve impingements that can cause headache, sinus problems, as well as neck and arm problems. Sports injuries and ergonomic stress that have created shoulder, arm and carpal tunnel problems also push us to do diagnostic work–ups that involve this upper portion of one's body.

Indeed, many people do not appreciate that carpal tunnel and sports injuries often occur because the nerve energy coming out from the neck is being compromised, or pinched. The more an area of the body is used — as in a sports activity or within one's job — the more the body requires that the nerve energy flow into those muscles or joints is flowing well, not pinched. In addition to adjustments made to the neck to improve nerve flow into the shoulder, arm and hand, we have special exercises to improve the biomechanical functioning of this important area.

The Cranio–Sinus therapies we employ work very well in helping our patients with headaches, sinus problems, and generalized nervous system stress. Because headaches and sinus issues are one of the specialties of our practice, we have a separate part of the website devoted to them. But suffice to say now, "there is a reason for everything under the sun". Meaning there is a natural reason for the way things are. The job of our office is to find the breakdown in the skull's normal motions that occur during breathing. These motions are small but constant. When they are not present, weak spots one might have in the skull — such as sinus, ear, eye, jaw, and headaches — begin to show up and eventually take root. As you will see, we have special techniques to help remove the underlying breakdown in healthy cranial–respiratory rhythm.

The Body's Middle:
Organ Issues (Heart & Lungs, Immune, Digestive, Kidney & Bladder, Menstrual–Prostate)

Anything from tiredness, fatigue and low energy to diabetes, congestive heart failure, stomach reflux, bowel gas, bladder weakness and menstrual irregularities, will usually have an underlying cause that we will try to get to the bottom of. We utilize a variety of Work–ups that help us to assess nutritional weaknesses as well as to discern the weaker organs that are contributing to your symptoms. As you will learn as you work with us, we do not say we are treating your disease, or even your symptoms. What we are treating is you, a person with a health concern. When a person gets their "dis–ease" it is because their body has lost its resiliency; it has fractured along a certain line, their weak spot rises to the surface.

While drugs can play a role in acute care needs, drugs are generally not the answer. They tend to sweep the problem under the rug, allowing the underlying issue to fester and get worse. One reason why we treat patients presenting with a variety of organ–centered issues is because we know that if we don't, these patients' other doctors will usually only incorporate drug–focused therapies into their treatment programs. This pharmaceutical approach will often bootstrap those patients to a future filled with an ever–growing list of other health issues, each with more drug–based treatments.

There is a reason that as a doctor's patients get older, their patients often end up needing to take more and more drugs.

We each have our weak–spots, places that for one reason or another–genetic, constitutional, skeletal–postural–biomechanical, nutritional, or sometimes simply because the area was previously injured or traumatized. These weak–spots are generally a result of weaknesses on the cellular level of an organ or body region.

Our job is to find the right health–builders for those cells and tissues so as to help you reclaim your health. Our treatments work to rebuild health at both the cellular and organ levels of your body.

The ability of your body to move through its "dis–ease" process is best accomplished as the local cells of your problematic tissue and organs getting greater access to the natural health-builders they are currently lacking.

These cellular issues often add up, over time, to organ issues. Even your other doctors will tell you that each diagnostic term—whether it is ulcer, cancer, bursitis, or arthritis—is really shorthand for a wide swath of problems occurring on the cellular level of your body.

At our Center we work to correct the underlying issues that are often happening at the cellular level. These issues often arise from a combination of nutritional deficits/ biochemical imbalances, organ nerve stress, and organ structural strain.

Our work in this department of your health generally involves specialized nutritional supports (based upon our 25 years of nutritional experience), chiropractic spinal adjustments to help nerve energy to flow better into your organs, and more and more importantly we are seeing — special exercises and postural therapies to relieve the structural strains that have accumulated over many years in one's weaker organs.

The Body's Bottom:
Lower Back, Hips, Knees and Feet

The Natural Health model we use appreciates that while nerve energy flows from the top down, and biochemistry of health starts at our visceral center, structure upholds us from the bottom. When this structure goes out of its proper alignment, structural strain accumulates. Arthritis, disc prolapse and herniation, subluxated vertebra (causing painful pinched nerves) begin to show up. One's hips start aching, one's knees lose their resiliency, one's legs begin to cramp up, the feet get painful.

There is simply no substitute for chiropractic adjustments of the spine to remove the spinal subluxations that cause the lower back to become stiff, achy, and downright painful. What distinguishes this lower portion of the body is that it sustains our weight'bearing capabilities. Our feet, knees, pelvis, and lower back help us to be "sturdy".

When you work with us, you have the opportunity to work with a doctor who will help you to stand, walk, posture and move in more biomechanically effective ways. Pain is the tip of the iceberg. Yes, you can take drugs to stop the pain signals coming into the nervous system. But it is always better to get to the bottom of the problem. Structural alignment — often beginning at the feet, and following through to the pelvis and lower plays an important part in one's well–being, and Natural Health sensibilities.

As you will see in our "How We Treat You" portion of the website, there are many therapies we employ to help this important musculoskeletal portion of you to get back on track. We often find that structural problems with the neck and shoulders often have a foundational root all the way down in this lower portion of the body.
